Reflective practice groups and consulting
...to medical & paramedical staff in rehabilitation services treating people with neurological and long-term conditions
Using my previous 20 years experience working with patients with neurological or long-term conditions, I assist colleagues in Reflective Practice Groups to better understand, not only their patients, but also their own clinical approach to this demanding and often difficult work.
Workshops for psychotherapists and counsellors who work with patients with complex physical presentations in medical settings and/ or in private practice
Some patients experience occasional physical symptoms, which they may feel have little to do with their psychological problems. Others are often deeply identified and understandably preoccupied with the symptoms of their particular, often more serious physical illness, i.e. various types of chronic, neurological or degenerative disease. Clinicians can feel under pressure to ‘heal’ or ‘cure’, rather than assist the patient to digest and understand what is happening. These workshops aim to help psychotherapists and counsellors to work with such patients and their debilitating conditions.
